I've met some of THE COOLEST FRIENDS EVER over the past several weeks. I needed to get that out. Okay.
Twinkies: 0
Chocolate: 5-6 (tiny pieces)
I've been working on Charity Can't Die lately and finally figured out a HUGE piece in the puzzle that is my MC, namely Charity. A part of her character had been bugging me for months, but no more. Puzzle solved. Woot.
I also took a class online which - holy cow - enlightened me. Especially if you're like me and need to have order in your life. I need order otherwise I'd lose my head. So this is what I learned from Dan Wells, who learned it from someone else. It's called the
7 Point System
Hook
Plot Turn 1 - Call to adventure
Pinch 1 - Apply Pressure
Midpoint
Pinch 2 - Apply even more Pressure
Plot Turn 2 - Resolve to do something - The power is in you (your MC)
Resolution
That peeps is the Harry Potter book in a nutshell. Go on, check it out if you don't believe me. What you don't believe me?
Hook - sad little Harry under the stairs
Plot turn 1 - finds out he's a wizard
Pinch - the scary Troll he and his friends battle
Are you following?
Midpoint - Harry sees the scary guy (I think it's voldemort) sucking on the Unicorn blood and he resolves to do something to get the bad guy
Pinch 2 - they go down the hole and his friends all get taken out by the traps (big chess for Hermoine and Ron- remember)
Plot Turn 2 - Harry is alone and he has the stone in his pocket. He realizes that the power is in him because he's pure and his mother's love is what saved him and allowed him to live so he knows that's how he'll destroy (for a bit) Voldemort.
Resolution - He does it.
How freakin cool is that? I thought is was pretty freakin cool. LOL I learned that and so much more from Mr. Wells. If you're interested, you can check it out on youtube - Dan Wells on Story Structure. Here's the first one. There are five. They were all good.
Anyway, hope you have a great Wednesday!!!
