Share the joy at Hotbreads, who care for the city

It's Christmas Eve. Playing Santa is the best part of Christmas and that's how it is known for amongst children all over the world. Here's how you can get happiness for self, for friends and family and also for many in need.

One of the many Santas in the city this time are the oldest, trusted and most popular bakers Hotbreads.

Rebuilding Chennai is the task at hand now and everyone is trying their bit. Amongst the many philanthropists, MD Mr. Mahadevan of Oriental Cuisine has been directly involved in providing food packets since the floods. Most of their kitchens were busy cooking for the people in need. But things didn't stop just there. They are committed to do much more to contribute for the city.
Hot Breads will support the rebuild Chennai campaign by donating part of the amount from their total sale to charity till days to come.

We bake at home or buy the yummy cakes and special treats for Christmas to gift others and make them happy. So, here we get to become Santa. By buying the authentic traditional recipe goodies, you get to taste the best, gift the best and celebrate the festival in style. While they take part of the earnings from your buy and gift it to the needy and thus we all contribute to rebuild Chennai through this small but large hearted initiative.
When HotBreads invited us as a group of social media influencers for a X Mas Meet the Chef event at their Cathedral Road branch where they served us and shared about their traditional Christmas special delicacies, the most interesting part was the Share and Care initiative.
MasterChef Sundar who is part of HotBreads for the past 25 years, since the beginning of the Bakery showcased some of the special Christmas goodies from their Baking Carriage.

The heart of Christmas lies in the Premium Rich Plum cake. MasterChef Sundar shared that the Plum cake is made in the authentic Christmas Cake way only. They soak especially sourced out premium dry fruits in rum for six months. Hence, it is an exclusive Christmas offering at Hotbreads. they have two versions of plum cakes Rich and Premium. Premium has many more rare ingredients and is cured for even longer. There's an eggless version too available.

These are available in lovely red boxes and reusable tins in 500 gms and 1 kg portions.
The one offered to us was stunning. The aroma of freshly baked goodness made the festive occasion cheerful.
The texture was spot on, smooth and taste was as good as it can get.
Really worth buying the plum cake as we share the goodness of traditional christmas cake and contribute to the cause that's the need of the hour.

To make the Christmas extra special they have Minced Pies. I loved this a lot. The outer part is crispy and crunchy to the core and the filling is yummy, you can't have it stand alone. They are as yummy in taste as they are pretty in looks. This too is prepared with traditional recipes, mincing exclusive soaked dryfruits.

Walnut cake was soft and fluffy and and is an upgraded version of the usual tea cakes. Medium sweetness and quality ingredients could be tasted.

The Dundee cake which is a traditional Scottish cake was absolutely yumm.

Sweetness galore the festival season and out plates were decorated with the yummy treats.

One of the advantages that one has while visiting the Cathedral Road HotBreads is that Don Pepe is located on Level one and they are connected and owned by the same management. Infact to have a quiet and nice showcase, the event was held at the Mexican place Don Pepe. How could the chefs there not produce some Christmas special. They served us some beautiful mousse-cakes in chocolate and Cappuccino flavours. The coffee flavoured mousse cake was lip smacking. I loved the creamy smooth texture and flavours were wonderful.

While all things sweet were displayed and served, there was the need for something savoury and they served the Crispy corn tortilla topped with chicken, mushroom and creamy cheese sauce. This was so so yumm, it got polished off instantly. The next trip to Don Pepe, and this is gonna be my first order.

Amongst the beverages I chose Fresh lime juice, always goes best when you are on a testing session.

We called for small portions of a few dishes that we three / four can share to taste. Ordered a mix of Chicken and Prawn fingers. Crumb fried starters served with lettuce salad and fries. Everything was tasty.

Pasta in white sauce. Was nice.

My kid was treated with this awesome Chocolate pastry that made her happy.

The treat continued for us with this yummy treats gift box.

So this Christmas, buy and share the rich traditional cakes, pies, turkey treats from Hotbreads that are exclusively prepared for Christmas only and not available at other time of the year. Their dedication to try to prepare as near to traditional recipes is praiseworthy. Something made with love is the apt treat to gift with love to those you love and get the love back in the form of prayers and gratitude from the under privileged who will be helped through the sales. The more you buy, the more you share and care. Merry Christmas to you and everyone in Chennai.
